From now on call me Madiba – Safi

As the world mourns the death of former South African president Nelson Mandela, tributes continue to flow in from all corners of the world with flags in many countries flying at half mast.

While people from all walks of life remember the life of a man who is considered as a true hero, it has not come as a surprise that Safi of Urban Boyz declared that he would change his name to Madiba, a nickname that was associated with the anti-apartheid leader.

Through his Facebook page, Safi declared, “From now on I wish to be referred to as Niyibikora Safi Madiba.” Though many may see it as a banter, Safi, like many of us, declared he was touched and inspired by the life Mandela lived.

Nelson Mandela passed away peacefully on 5th December 2013 after battling with a lung infection.

World leaders including United States of America president Barack Obama went to South Africa to pay their last respects to him.
