Singer Ciney receives Ndule award, says was stunned

Ciney flaunts her award at Ndule Awards ceremony

Female singer Ciney has disclosed how stunned she was after she was presented with a Ndule award in a ceremony that is held annually in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Ciney had been invited to attend the event but only as a guest, and little did she know she would walk home with an award whatsoever.

Speaking to a showbiz magazine called Sunday Night on a local FM station; the star revealed that she was astounded by the accolade. She said: “To say the truth I did not expect to be among the recipients of the award because I don’t recall any of my songs that preach peace.”

Ndule Awards is an annual ceremony that takes place in DR Congo. The awards are meant to recognize efforts of musicians throughout the year, placed in different categories, be it in secular or gospel music. Recipients are mainly artists from the region whose music has greatly contributed to preaching peace and unity in the region.

Intore Masamba is another high profile Rwandan musician who had been invited but declined to attend citing security and political concerns in the neighboring country.
