Rapper Riderman has been heavily tipped to win the artist of the year at the upcoming annual Salax Music Awards due to be held in March 2014.
The star has undoubtedly enjoyed a successful spell in 2013, becoming the first ever rapper to win Primus Guma Guma Super Star, with the first two editions having gone to Tom Close and King James respectively. Both are RnB singers.
In a mini-poll conducted by a weekly celeb magazine, The Sunday Night which runs on a local FM station, Riderman’s name popped up every time, while callers argued that he deserved nothing less than the accolade.
Salax Music Awards are held on an annual basis and artists are awarded in different categories but the best artist is largely viewed as the most prestigious of all. Last year Urban Boyz went home with an incredible four awards that included Best Male artist, Album of the year and Artist of the year.
Of notable absence at the awards was rapper Jay Polly who did not win a single award. Pundits at the time attributed this to his fallout with the media after he had called a section of journalists “empty vessels”.
