Upcoming hip hop artist, Edsha Ishimwe has come hard on radio stations for promoting western hip hop while undermining local hip hop.
The Impindura hit maker told Tukabyine.com on Wednesday while he discussed hip hop development in Rwanda.
“Some radio stations like City Radio and K-FM rarely play local hip hop, they instead play western hip hop which doesn’t build the Rwandan society,” said Edsha.
Edsha called on Radio stations to promote Rwandan Hip hop because of its constructive role to the society. He said Western Hip hop is filled with vulgar language.
In Rwanda, Hip Hop genre was introduced in 2000 by Tuff Gangz crew and since then it has gained momentum. Local hip hop music is mostly consumed by youth between 15-25 years.
Rwanda boasts of hip hop artists like Jay Polly, Edsha, Bull Dog, Amagi, Riderman and a few female rappers like Paccy and Young Grace.
Rapper Edsha is a self styled hip hop artist, he boasts of songs like Bahakanire and Kwishuri.
