The youth and other people in Kayonza district who mostly enjoy entertainment in form of dancing have expressed lack of night clubs as a major problem in satisfying their music desire. They say that there is no house designed for a night club in the district.
Savana Motel in Kayonza town responded to their request and played music all night on the New Year’s Eve. However, this was a short term intervention because among its services, there is no night club.
Young people in the district thronged the motel in large numbers and braved the much heat in order to maximize the opportunity and enjoy the music dance. They were able to start the New Year in style.
Many of the youth in Kayonza district say that the authorities should find them a place where they can always be entertained especially during such rare occasions.
One of the youth Claude Kalisa said that Rwamagana has a night club though seem smaller to Kayonza several times better than Rwamagana.
We were not able to talk to the proprietor of Savana Motel but his employees told us that they are only allowed to play music on New Year’s Eve.
Murengezi Jean Baptiste, a leader of the youth in Kayonza district said that they lack financial resources to set up entertainment facilities which is the reason behind scarce night clubs.
