Knowles is one of Rwanda’s most celebrated musicians courtesy of her amazing R&B tunes and magnetic voice.
Knowles, real name Jeanne Ingabire Butera is a female Rwandan musician, songwriter and entertainer. She was born on 1st October 1990 in Ruhango district (former Gitarama), Southern Province of Rwanda. Knowles is the only child to Jean-Marie Vianney Butera and Marie Claire Uyambaje. Both of her parents passed away.

She attended her primary education at ESCAF primary school in Kacyiru, Gasabo district. She began her secondary education at APARUDE secondary school in Ruhango district and completed it at APACE secondary school in Nyamirambo, Kigali City. During her secondary, she studied computer sciences and management. Knowles plans to pursue University education in 2012 at Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, KIST.
The 20 year old singer has come a long way from her early days as a teenager. She began her career as a member of Maranatha Choir. By then, she was still in secondary school. Knowles’ singing talent stems from her Mother who was a lead singer in a Seventh day Adventist Choir.
Knowles is known of staging an electrifying performance
With her captivating beauty, unmatched talent and legion of fan followers, Knowles is an iconic name in Rwanda’s music industry. She ventured into Rwanda’s music industry in 2009 as a secular artist. The first song she released as a secular artist was Nyumva (Listen to me) featuring Young Junior. This marked the beginning of her fast rise to be one of the best female musicians in Rwanda.
Since then she has released several successful songs like Komeza (Keep on), Ko uhinduka (Why do you change), Byarakomeye (Very serious), Ibidashoboka (Impossible), Byemere (Accept), Adelphine, Baravuga (They talk) and Nkoraho (Touch Me) which is a new release. Many of these songs have videos.
Due to her prolific voice, Knowles has collaborated with different Rwandan artists like Danny, Paccy, Ciney, Jay Polly, Kamichi and Urban Boyz.
The artist managed to spread her wings to the East African region because she featured Uganda’s Vampos on Byemere (Accept) which made her popular in Uganda and in the region.
Inspired by Belgium-based Rwandan musician, Cecile Kayirebwa and American R&B singer-songwriter, Brandy Norwood, Knowles’ music is a conscious call to live, dream and hope in curiosity, courage and strength.

Knowles has been there and knows exactly what her fans want. She always gives the best. Towards the end of 2011, Knowles launched her maiden musical album.
The debut album “Komeza” was first launched in Rubavu District during the Jungle Party at Kivu Serena Hotel on 17th December 2011 and on 18th December 2011 at Amahoro Stadium’s parking lot in Kigali City. Knowles has started winning awards for her musical achievements. The major one is the 2010 Salax Award for the best new artist.
