Organizers of facebook party have been ordered by the police to change its name after one of them was arrested by the police for illegally posting a picture of a young girl on the social network.
Social Media Promoters who confirmed that plans for the event were at an advanced stage said they were frustrated by the latest developments but said they had nothing else to do but change.
Trouble started when Kalisa John, one of the organizers of the party, was arrested last week on charges of defamation of character. John reportedly posted a picture of a young unsuspecting girl on facebook and was immediately arrested.
As a result police have passed a stern warning to the rest of the members that the party has to change the name with immediate effect.
“We have been told to immediately change the name of the event, so we have no other choice,” said Rugambage Zikilla, a member of Social Media Promoters. According to unconfirmed reports, the event shall now be called Celebrity Party.
Meanwhile, Kalisa’s case was supposed to be heard earlier this week but has been adjourned to a later date.
