Organizers of Salax Awards, Ikirezi Group Ltd, have confirmed that musicians who pulled out of this year’s edition of the annual awards have already been replaced by their counterparts who were lower in echelons during nominations.
The company has also immediately announced that beginning Thursday 24th January, voting will begin for those who wish to give a chance to their favorite musicians.
Fans will vote via short message services or through the company’s official website, www.ikirezi.rw. The following artistes are the ones who pulled out and they were replaced as follows:
- 1. In best RnB category, Tom Close was replace by G-Bruce
- 2. In Best Album category, Dream Boyz’ Uzambarize Mama was replaced by Intero y’Amahoro by Mani Martin
- 3. In Best Diaspora category, Alpha was replaced by OGI The General
- 4. In Best Video category, Komeza Utsinde by Tom Close was replaced by Nzaba Mpari by Knowless
- 5. Dream Boyz were replaced by B-Gun in Best Group
- 6. In Best Afro Beat, Elion Victory replaces Uncle Austin
- 7. Paccy comes to replace Jay Polly in Best Hip Hop category
The changes come amid a lot of outcry from the public who have continuously accused Ikirezi Group Ltd of bias and lack of clear pattern in the nominations. The final event will take place at Serena Hotel on 5th March 2013.
