After local producer Lick Lick left to America, Rwandan music industry suffered until artists opened links with Ugandan based producer Washington to fill the gap.
Producer Washington has won hearts of top Rwandan artists including Kitoko, Urban Boyz and Rider Man.
Washington was originally producing for Bebe Cool but they fell out after Gagamel boss failed to meet producer’s demands.
In 2009, Washington signed a contract with Goodlyfe crew which is made up of Radio and Weasel who regularly travels in Rwanda.
This gave out opportunity to Rwandan artists to expose their talents to the rest of East African region, since Washington is respected in the region for his producing tactics.
It is also rumored that Washington’s connection in Rwandan music industry has created some beefs among the local artists, who don’t go for Washington’s studio.
