The former couple topped a poll to find the Hottest Debut VMA Performance besting Justin Bieber’s rendition of U Smile and Lady Gaga’s blood soaked performance of Paparazzi, both in 2010.
They just scraped into qualifying for the vote, which covered appearances from the past five years.
Rihanna and Chris performed a raunchy medley of his hits Kiss Kiss and Wall To Wall and her single Umbrella for the show back in 2007.
The Bajan star will be singing at the event this year and rumors had been extensive that she would reunite with Best Male Video nominee Chris on stage for her hit Birthday Cake.
Recently the Barbados star confessed that she still misses her ex-boy friend Chris B in an interview with the queen of talk shows Oprah Winfrey at her native.
However, it has now been confirmed that Rihanna who is nominated for three gongs will be taking to the stage with rapper A$AP Rocky.
The VMAs will be held in Los Angeles on Thursday, with performances also coming from acts including Nicki Minaj, Pink, Lil Wayne, Green Day and British boy band One Direction.
