The ministry of sports and culture censored Urban Boy’s new premiered video dubbed Anciila for indecency scenes.
This took place on Tuesday evening after the trio had a meeting with the ministry in which Urban Boys agreed to re-shoot the video.
The director in charge of culture promotion in the ministry of sports and culture Lauren Makuza revealed that Urban Boys decided to re-do the video after realizing the consequences of such videos to the society.
“We had a meeting with the trio about the video, explained to them the consequences of such images to our culture and the boys decided to re-work on the video,” said Makuza.
Urban Boys is credited for having quality videos and the group previously scooped an award for the best video of the year for the song Bibaye.
While speaking to Tukabyine.com, Urban Boy’s rapper Humble Gizzo aka James Manzi explained in details about the issue.
“The ministry advised us to shoot a new video good for our society,” says James Manzi
Ancilla video was premiered early this month with scenes of semi-nude model kissing and dancing with the artists, this led the video to be considered not suitable for public consumption.
In 2013, Doctor Jijii’s video Untere Ibuye also sparked controversy for having improper sexual scenes especially from fellow musicians like Mico and it was denied promotion.
Local music fans through social media received well the ban of the video but also advised the ministry to ban western videos especially of Lady Gaga and Rihanna on public TV’s and cinemas.
Urban Boys boasts of songs like Barahurura, Marry Me, Touch ma body and Simubure.
