Rwanda’s finest hip hop star Joshua Tuyishimire aka Jay Polly says that it’s high time to improve and expand Rwanda’s hip hop music across the East African region and the entire African continent.

The hard core rapper disclosed the information recently while talking about what he will do with the millions francs from Guma Guma competition if he happens to win.

“It’s high time to expand Rwanda’s hip hop brand across the region and if I win the competition, no doubt the money will be re-invested in hip hop music activities to expand my music across Africa,” says rapper Jay Polly.

He added that, Rwanda needs to have a hip hop artist representing it across the region and Africa but all that needs money, motivation and passion.

Other East African countries like Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya has been already recognized on international hip hop music scene despite rapping in native languages.

Hip Hop artists like Navio (Uganda), AY (Tanzania), Nonini (Kenya) and other rappers from west Africa are already reaping huge sums of money from abroad as well as improving hip hop music from their native countries to international level.

The Hisha Munda star also advised other local rappers not to be deceived that rapping in Kinyarwanda won’t take them far, because music is a language itself that can be listened and consumed by any human being as long as it has good content in it.

Jay Polly is currently competing with Dream Boyz and Bruce for the trophy after other seven contestants were eliminated last month.

Rapper Jay Polly started music career in the early 2000 with fellow rappers in Tuff Gangz crew and together they built a strong foundation for hip hop music in Rwanda which was only taken as a music style for wasted people and drug addicts.

The Tuff Gangs former lead rapper is also one of the Rwanda’s best artistes with huge number of fans across the country both adults and youth.

Rwanda boasts several hip hop music stars like Jay Polly, Riderman, Bull Dog, Paccy, Green P and Fireman.
